====== Issue ======



A known issue exists when attempting to email from Control using Office 365. This issue is due to a change on Office 365's end that is causing every user of Control that utilizes their service to have the problem, regardless of what version of Control you are using.



====== Error ======



A number of customers called in reporting that they had been successfully using Control's internal email method to send out email using the SMTP servers for their Office 365 email account, however they were now no longer able to send email. The error includes text stating "SSL is not available on this server."

====== Temporary Solution ======



Every employee (user account) within Control can have their own email address, email settings, etc. If you want to set the global setting for all users then this is done within System Setup.



If you wish to later override the global setting for a particular employee (user) then this can be done by following the same instructions below however you will need to adjust the settings under Setup > User Options. This will need to be done for each employee (user) and requires that the settings be adjusted from the actual computer the employee (user) is logged in to currently.
  * **Gmail**



If you change the settings to send email via [[control/how-to_configure_control_to_send_email_with_gmail|GMAIL]] which also uses TLS then it works fine and you will not get a SSL error.
  * **Outlook**



If you would instead prefer to use the alternative [[control/how-to_configure_control_to_send_email|OUTLOOK]] then it must be Microsoft Outlook 2000 or greater to send email with this method.



Use a different email provider, such as a local internet provider SMTP email server. You will need the appropriate credentials to perform the proper configuration.

**Resolution**



This issue is resolved in the Update [[control/control_release_notes_5.5.1503.0601|Version 5.5.1503.0601]] posted on 03/07/2015.
