This How-To article will walk you through creating a fully instrumented Smart Part product. This kind of setup is meant for products that need parts added during order entry, or for products that have lots of parts on an order.

  1. Create a new Variable and set its type to Part Search
    1. See Smart Part Search Variable for setup options
    2. You must specify Grid Columns to show in Part Search Grids
    3. It is recommended you set a Fixed Search filter
  2. Create a new Variable and set its type to Part Filter
    1. See Smart Part Filter Variable for setup options
    2. You must specify Grid Columns to show in Part Filter Grids
  3. Create a new Variable and set its type to Part Summary
    1. Set its Variable1 property to the Part Search Variable in Step 1
    2. Set its Variable2 property to the Part Filter Variable in Step 2

  4. Create a new Pricing Form
    1. Under “Other” add a new Part Search Grid component to the Pricing Form
    2. Set the VariableName of the Part Search Grid component to the variable from Step 1
    3. Under “Other” add a new Part Search Builder component to the Pricing Form
    4. Set the VariableName of the Part Search Builder component to the variable from Step 1
    5. Under “Other” add a new Part Filter Grid component to the Pricing Form
    6. Set the VariableName of the Part Filter Grid component to the variable from Step 2
    7. Under “Other” add a new Part Summary component to the Pricing Form
    8. Set the VariableName of the Part Summary component to the variable from Step 3
    9. For Advanced Pricing Forms, for example, tabs that change the Batch Name of a Part Filter Grid, or set the Search Criteria of a Search Builder, see the Smart Part CFL page.
  5. Create a new Smart Part Product
    1. Link the three new Variables from Steps 1 - 3 to the Product
    2. Set the Pricing Form to the one made in Step 4
