Unable to load communication module. Driver has not been correctly installed

Error occurred when launching the SSLIP after installing Remote Desktop Services (RDS).

This issue happened on a test server (Server 2016) after installing and configuring Remote Desktop Services (RDS) and related components. After rebooting the server, the SSLIP would no longer connect to SQL and this error was received. Connecting to SQL via SQL Management Studio worked fine. RDS was set up as a test and was not finished or properly set up.

Uninstall Remote Desktop Services (RDS) and all related components from Roles and Features in Server Manager.

Note:

This is not a final resolution. RDS should only be un-installed by the Customer's IT staff as a last resort. Other troubleshooting steps should be tried in a real production environment. This wiki will be updated should new information or a better resolution is found.
