How to enable credit memos in Control?

Enabling Credit Memos

  1. Click on Setup | System Setup
  2. Click on Order Options.
  3. Click the Edit button on the right toolbar.
  4. Check the box to “Enable credit memos”.
  5. Click the Save button on the right toolbar.
  6. Click Close to exit System Setup.

Creating a Credit Memo

  1. Open the order you want to create the credit memo for and click the Create Credit Memo button on the right toolbar.
  2. If you are giving a credit for a particular line item, delete all line items except the one to which credit is being given.
  3. Click Ok to process Credit Memo.

If the Credit Memo is for a specific amount (not tied to line item):

  1. Follow steps 1 thru 2 above.
  2. Change the line item amount to the amount of credit memo, by double clicking the pretax price and changing the price accordingly.
  3. If applicable, make sure taxes are correctly shown.
  4. Click Ok to process Credit Memo.

Note: Order must be in a sale Status and the amount of credit memo can not exceed the amount of the balance due on

order.

  • Q. Can I create a credit memo on any order?
  • A. No, credit memos can only be created for orders in the status of Sale and the amount of the credit memo can not exceed the amount of the balance due on the order.
  • Q. I created a credit memo but I can't find it in the system, what am I missing?
  • A. Credit memos are just another type of transaction so they are viewable under the Order Explorer. Within Control, click on Explore | Explore Orders. Ensure the checkbox for “Credit Memo” is selected in the order search criteria section.
  • Q. How can I print a copy of the credit memo?
  • A. Open the credit memo by using the Order Explorer, once the credit memo is open click on Print on the right-side toolbar then click Credit Memo. From here you will have the option to preview, print, email, or save a copy of the credit memo.
