If you have the option, please utilize a Cyrious Installation CD or Downloadable installer obtained at www.cyrioussoftware.com. If a manual installation is required you will need access to all of the following files, typically manual installations only occur when swapping the installation from one computer system to another, you are unable to locate an install cd or downloadable installation.

These steps are meant as a general guide, subtle differences between operating systems may alter these steps. It is expected that you have a basic working knowledge of windows, creating shares, installing programs.

  1. Create Cyrious folder structure and place files in proper locations.
  2. Set share and file/folder permissions properly.
  3. Create shortcuts to Control and SSLIP programs.
  4. Install SQL Server
  5. Attach Cyrious SQL database.
  6. Install HASP Security Key drivers.
  7. Install Crystal Reports XI DLL's
  8. Barcode Support Installer.
  9. Configure the SSLIP to access the Cyrious SQL database.
  1. Navigate to C:\Program Files\ or C:\Program Files (x86) if you are on a 64-bit version of Windows.
  2. Create a folder named Cyrious.
  3. Within the Cyrious folder, create the folder structure below and include the files as outlined.

Share the Cyrious folder.

  1. In the Program Files folder, click on Tools, then Folder Options, and then View. Next scroll down to the bottom and uncheck the box next to “Use simple file sharing (Recommended), then click OK.
  2. Right click on the Cyrious folder and click on Properties.
  3. Click the Sharing Tab.
  4. Check the radiobutton for “Share This Folder”
  5. Under Share Name type Cyrious$
  6. Click the Permissions button and check Allow for Full Control. Click OK, then OK again.
  7. Click the Security tab. Click the Add button. Type Everyone into the text box and click OK. Check the box for Allow (Full Control) for Administrators, Users, and Everyone. Click OK then click OK to close and exit.

Now that the folder is shared properly you can now create the shortcuts for Control to place it on the desktop of the server. In addition, you'll need to create a shortcut for the SSLIP and place it in the Startup folder for Windows so that the SSLIP will automatically start when the computer is turned on.

  1. Navigate to the Control folder, right-click on the Control.exe file and choose Send To | Create Shortcut (Desktop)
  2. Navigate to the SSLIP folder, right-click on the SSLIP.exe file and choose Send To | Create Shortcut (Desktop)
  3. Copy the SSLIP shortcut from the desktop, then click the Start button | All Programs | Startup right-click and choose Open. Paste a copy of the SSLIP shortcut into this folder.

It is recommended that you utilize the latest version of SQL Server available. At the time of this article the most recent version is SQL Server 2008R2 Express Edition w/ Tools. If you have a paid version of SQL these same steps can be used to complete your installation of SQL Server.

  1. Download SQL Server 2008 R2 Express Edition from Microsoft's website.
    1. If you need a prior version, SQL 2005 Express Edition is available at the links below.
  2. Once downloaded run the program to start the installer.
  3. Click Installation and choose New SQL Server Stand-alone.
  4. Accept the terms and click Next.
  5. Make sure Database Engine is checked and click Next.
  6. Name the instance CYRIOUS
  7. Choose use the same account for all SQL Server services option. Be sure that Local System is chosen.
  8. Choose Mixed Mode and specify an SA password. Contact Cyrious for the preferred SA password.
  9. Click next through the next couple of screens until the install is done an you have successfully installed SQL Server.

SQL has now been installed, the next step involves attaching the Control database to SQL Server using the SQL Management Studio.

  1. Click on Start | All Programs | Microsoft SQL Server | SQL Server Management Studio.
  2. For server name be sure to choose the CYRIOUS instance for the local computer.
  3. For Authentication choose SQL Authentication and use the credentials below and click Connect.
    1. User name: SA
    2. Password: Specify the SA password you used during the install. You can contact Cyrious for this preferred password.
  4. Once you have logged into SQL Management Studio, right-click on Logins and choose New Login.
  5. Create a new login with the following settings:
    1. Login name: Cyrious
    2. Password: Contact Cyrious for the required password.
    3. Click on Server Roles and check all options, click OK when done to create the login.
  6. Right-click on the Databases folder and choose Attach.
  7. Click the Add button.
  8. Navigate to the C:\Program Files\Cyrious\Control\ or C:\Program Files (x86)\Cyrious\Control\ folder to locate the StoreData.mdf and StoreData.ldf files.
  9. Select the StoreData.mdf file and click OK to attach the SQL database.
  10. You may close SQL Management Studio.

Now that SQL has been configured, we need to install the necessary drivers for the Cyrious security key to function. Cyrious utilizes a Sentinel HASP security key for licensing, in order to access Control this security key must be installed on the system.

This step involves installing Crystal Reports XI DLL's. These DLL files are required in order to access the various report files included with Control.

  1. Run the installer, follow the on-screen steps to complete the installation.

This step involves installing Bar Code Fonts & DLL's. These DLL files are required in order to access some report templates that have embedded barcode fonts.

  1. Run the installer, follow the on-screen steps to complete the installation.

During this step we will verify the configuration of the SSLIP to ensure it is configured to use the Control SQL database we attached earlier.

  1. Open the SSLIP program by double-clicking the shortcut you created on the desktop.
  2. If you receive an error during loading please click OK to let the install continue. Note: You may notice the C3S Installer automatically run on the first time you open the SSLIP, this is normal please be patient while the initial startup of the SSLIP is completed.
  3. After the SSLIP completes the loading procedure it will be minimized to the system tray. Locate the icon for the SSLIP and double-click it to access the login screen to verify the SSLIP configuration.
  4. For a new install, the default login information is listed below:
    1. Login Name: Administrator
    2. Password: cyrious
    3. You will be prompted to create a new password, choose any password you prefer however it must be 7 characters in length with one uppercase and one number.
  5. After opening the SSLIP, click on Database Administration.
  6. Click on StoreData on the left side of the screen, verify the SQL instance specified is ComputerName\CYRIOUS where ComputerName is the name of your computer.
  7. After verifying these settings please close the SSLIP and restart your computer. Upon restart you may then log into Control.
