To install Control on your server, follow these steps:

  1. Verify that your server meets the Control Recommend Computer Hardware Specifications for the Control installation. The minimum specs are on the setup steps webpage.
  2. Insert security key or dongle in an empty USB slot. It is a good idea to plug it into a slot in the rear of the computer. This will prevent people from accidentally knocking it out of place or removing it thinking it is a flash drive.
  3. When a message pops up asking if you would like to install drivers, click No.
  4. Insert disc into the CD drive on your server or main computer. The server is the computer that will host the Control program and where your database will reside.
  5. When the installer initializes you will see the following options: Standard Server, Client Installation, Server Update, and Options Only, as well as a checkbox for Optional Modules.
    1. Select the first option: Standard Server
    2. If you have purchased optional modules (Production Terminal or Webview), check Optional Modules. These modules will install after the Control installation. (If the CD does not launch automatically go to My Computer, right click the CD drive and select AUTOPLAY.)
  6. Upon initiating the Control installation, the following will occur:
    1. The Control installer will install SQL Server (the database engine used by Control) without any input required. If SQL is already installed you will see the following image. Select YES. The SQL installation will proceed without any input required from the user.
    2. The Control Program will begin its installation routine. Select NEXT to continue.
  7. When the Cyrious Control License Agreement appears, please review the agreement.
    1. If you agree to the terms, click to Accept.
    2. Click Next
  8. You will next be prompted to enter customer information. Enter your name and company and select Next to proceed.
  9. You will be prompted to enter the password that was included in your package. Enter your password and select Next. If you do not know the correct password, please call Cyrious Tech Support to retrieve it, 1-888-552-9823.
  10. You will next be prompted to select the location where you wish Control to install. Ordinarily, the default setting is appropriate. However, check the free space on your drives. If your C: drive is nearing capacity, install to another drive with sufficient free space. to change your install location, select Change, otherwise select Next to proceed.
  11. You will be prompted to enter the name of the existing SQL Server. Accept the defaults (local\cyrious) here and select NEXT to continue.
  12. At the confirmation screen, click INSTALL.
  13. Click FINISH.

When the Control installation finishes, the installer will proceed to install the Microsoft Management Studio (the SQL user interface) as well as the Optional Modules, if selected.

  • Select NEXT and proceed with the installation.
  • If you are installing Production Terminal, click NEXT and proceed with installation. You will not see this unless you have chosen to install Optional Modules.
  • If you are installing Webview, click NEXT and proceed with installation. You will not see this unless you have chosen to install Optional Modules.

14. When finished installing, click Finish to exit installer. Please restart your computer at this time.

To install Control on a PC, follow these steps:

1. Verify that the PC you are installing meets the minimum system requirements for the Control client installation.

2. When the installer initializes, click CLIENT INSTALLATION from the list of options.

3. Click NEXT to continue when it arrives at the InstallShield Wizard.

4. The next section you see will be the License Agreement. When the Cyrious Control License Agreement appears, please review the agreement.

a) If you agree to the terms, click I accept.

b) Click NEXT

5. You will next be prompted to enter customer information. Enter your name and company and click NEXT to proceed.

6. Next you will be prompted to enter the path to the server. The format for this path is \\servername where “servername” is the name of your server (or computer acting as server).

a) Type in the Server Path - Example: \\TestWin7x64\CYRIOUS$\

b) Click NEXT

7. Once Control is finished installing on this client, please repeat on all the other PC's that you want to run Control on.

8. Click FINISH to complete Control client install.

If you are upgrading to a new version of Control and you already have a version of Control installed on your computer, then you need to follow the steps below to ensure that the new dataset is properly installed.

Warning: If you do this upgrade, any pricing, orders, estimates in your prior Control OOB dataset will not be available in this new dataset. If you want the prior information, you’ll need to re-load it. If you want to keep a copy of your prior data, be sure to save a backup of it.

1. To begin:

a) Click Start.

b) Click Control Panel.

2. In the Control Panel click Add or Remove Programs.

a) In the Add or Remove Programs window, locate Cyrious Control and click Remove.

b) Click Uninstall.

c) Click Next.

d) Control will now uninstall. When prompted to restart, click Yes, I want to restart my computer now.

e) Click Finish.

3. Now browse to the old Cyrious installation folder (by default C:\Program Files\cyrious), and rename the folder to “_cyrious”

a) Right click the Cyrious folder and click Rename.

b) Rename the file “cyrious-old”.

4. If you downloaded the Control Installation from the web follow the steps below. Note: if you have a physical installation CD skip to Step 5.

a) Extract the .zip file you downloaded to a temporary folder on your system. Note: You can delete the temporary folder after you complete all the steps outlined below.

b) Browse to that temporary folder and double-click the Control Setup.exe file located in the Install folder and proceed to Step 6.

5. If you are installing via physical installation CD, please insert the disc into your computer. Note: Skip to Step 6 if you downloaded your installation from the Cyrious website.

a) Click Cancel if prompted to install Control as shown in the image below.

b) Browse to your CD-ROM drive and double-click the Control Setup.exe file located in the Install folder.

6. At this point Control will begin its install sequence. Select Next to continue when it arrives here:

7. When the Cyrious Control License Agreement appears, please review the agreement.

a) If you agree to the terms, select “I accept…”.

b) Click Next.

c) You will next be prompted to enter customer information. Enter your name and company and select Next to proceed.

d) The next screen will prompt you for the type of installation you need to run. If you are installing Control for the first time, choose New Server/Standalone. Select Next to continue to the next step.

e) You will be prompted to enter the password that was included in your package. Enter your password and select Next. If you do not know the correct password, please call Cyrious Tech support to retrieve it.

f) You will next be prompted to select the location where you wish Control to install. Ordinarily, the default setting is appropriate. However, check the free space on y our drives. If your C: drive is nearing capacity, install to another drive with sufficient free space. To change your install location, select Change otherwise select Next to proceed.

g) The next prompt will advise that SQL must be installed to continue. Since we have already installed SQL, click OK to continue.

h) You will be prompted to enter the name of the existing SQL server. Accept the defaults here and select Next to continue. Note: Your default server name/instance name may be different than listed below, leave the path set to the default and proceed to the next step.

i) At the next screen, click Install.

j) Control will continue to install, when it is finished, you will be prompted to restart your computer. Do so at that time.
