Purchasing with Warehouses

Inventory tracking is a crucial issue in production oriented businesses. Dividing warehouses into stockrooms and Kanban warehouses helps separate inventory in the midst of production (with highly volatile balances) from relatively stable inventory.

In Control, standard warehouses and stockrooms are always valid as the destination for purchasing (purchase orders and bills). Warehouse groups may not be used for purchasing. If a purchase order or bill is associated with an order, the order’s production warehouse is automatically selected. This is the only scenario in which a Kanban warehouse is a valid target for purchasing.

Inter-Division Purchasing

Interdivisional purchasing within a single purchase order or bill is not allowed. A single purchase order or bill may only incorporate warehouses from one division, which will also be the division used for the Accounts Payable and any expenses from the bill. For similar reasons, any orders associated with a purchase order or bill must be in the same division.
