With the recent credit card changes in Control 6.0, the interfaces to add, delete, and update credit cards may look different but they function almost the exact same. You probably won't need much assistance adjusting to these new interfaces, but here's an overview just in case you have questions.

The details below will only apply to those of you who are using the internal credit card processing feature in Control. Because Control 6.0 is no longer storing encrypted credit card data in the Control database, customers who saved credit card details in the past will no longer be able to continue doing that. If users what to be able to store credit cards, they need to switch to Control's internal credit card processing.

There are 2 ways to add a new credit card to Control. Just like in previous versions of Control, you'll be able to add a card to a contact's record in the company. In 6.0, you'll also be able to add a new credit card from the payment screen. Let's look at both of theses in detail.

For a contact that does not have a credit card or ACH information on their record, you'll be able to add a payment method from the Financial tab.

  1. Open the company record
  2. Click the Contacts tab
  3. Select your contact
  4. Click the contact's Financial tab
  5. Click the Add ACH or Add Card button

Once you click the Add Card button, you'll see the below interface that's known as the Hosted Payment Page or HPP.

You'll need to enter the billing address and credit card information for the contact. The interface that you enter this information on is actually a webpage so you may notice error messages if you accidentally enter a state abbreviation incorrectly, type too many characters for the credit card number, etc... Click the Submit button and save your work when you're done.

To add ACH bank information, just click the Add ACH button and enter in your contact's bank details. Don't forget to save!

From the Payment Entry Interface

For those of you who are processing credit cards in Control, you'll see the New Credit Card option. This option should be used anytime you process a credit card that is not already on file.

Once the New Credit Card option is selected, Control will connect to FreedomPay. This may take a couple seconds to complete.

FreedomPay's Hosted Payment Page (or HPP) will open. You'll want to fill in the billing address and credit card details for the new card. Click Submit when you're ready to process the card.

Because this is a New Credit Card, the below message box will appear. You can enter notes and check the **Keep On File For** option if you'll like to save this credit card to a specific contact's record. Select the contact's name from the drop down and click Save. Remember that a contact can only have one payment method linked to it so the **Keep on File** option will overwrite existing payment methods.

Deleting credit card and ACH information is very easy. You'll just need to navigate to the contact's record, click the Financial tab, and click the red garbage can icon to delete either credit card or ACH information that's saved. This will completely remove the credit card from FreedomPay's vault and can only be re-added by re-keying the credit card details into Control.

Once you click the red garbage can icon to delete either a credit card or ACH information, you'll get a confirmation message that you'll either need to confirm or cancel to continue.

***NOTE: Clicking Delete here will** permanently remove** your credit card information, even if you Cancel out of the company record. This is only true for credit card information; ACH information will NOT be deleted if you Cancel out of the company record.

To determine if a credit card is still a valid card (has been deemed lost or stolen, hasn't expired, account hasn't been closed, etc…), use the Verify button.

If you ever find yourself just needing to update the number on a saved credit card for example, use the Update button on the saved card.

This will open the Hosted Payment Page (or HPP) with all of the locally stored information pre-populated. The credit card number and CVV will not be present since that information is not stored in Control's database. Just key in your updates and click Submit when you're ready to save the information.

If you ever find yourself needing to move the credit card information from one contact's record to another, use the Transfer button on the saved card.
