You can delete the WAPIC (Coelacanth) service from Windows through the following methods. Coelacanth is required to access the API for so this is not recommended except in cases where you are attempting to resolve a problem with Coelacanth and a reinstall of the service is required.

Warning - Do not delete Coelacanth when users are accessing the API.

  1. We must obtain the exact name of the Coelacanth service from Windows in order to delete it.
    • Open Control Panel
    • Open Administrative Tools
    • Open Services
  2. Find the entry on the list that begins with Coelacanth. Keep the Services window open.
  3. Open a command prompt in Windows.
    • In Windows 7, click Start then Accessories and right-click on Command Prompt to choose Run as Administrator.
    • In Windows 8, go to Metro Interface and type cmd. A command prompt icon will appear, right-click the icon and choose Run as Administrator at the bottom.
  4. Type the following command
    • sc delete [service name]
    • Example:
    • sc delete Coelacanth.ServiceHost_5321
  5. Click on the Services window you still have open, press F5 to refresh the list of services. If the service still appears (a) wait a few minutes then refresh again or (b) restart the computer.
